Steve Kollasch of Whittemore, Iowa, passed away after battling a cancer. He died on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was the former Kossuth County Sheriff. He will never be replaced since he was a devoted family man and a public servant who will be much missed. He served as a firefighter for Whittemore, and his equipment is currently on display at the WFD Station in his honor. It would be pointless to attempt to compile a list of all the numerous activities and causes that Steve was involved in.

The wake services will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 o’clock in the evening at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. The funeral mass will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 in the morning, also at St. Michael’s. Sincere gratitude to you, Sheriff Kollasch, for your service. Memorial contributions can be made in Steve’s name to the Kossuth County Cancer Foundation or to Bishop Garrigan Schools. These contributions can be made in lieu of flowers.
